Hi, I’m Shawn

I’m a software engineer, so my little web site here is dedicated to anything within that realm (or other realms that I decide are shiny). You’ll find software I’ve written, source code for my programs, links to web pages I’ve developed, diagrams from databases I’ve written, and some tips & how-to’s on programming. It’s my goal that this site will be useful to people looking for cool software, people looking for help with programming, and people who are interested in my professional endeavors.

My Philosophy

As anyone who knows me very well should already be aware, I’m very big on contributing to the community, so everything I develop and post here is free. However, I do request that those who benefit from my work pay it forward. It’s the best way to make the world a better place. With that being said, let me tell you more about me and how awesome I am.

Awesomification

Lots of people ask me how I got to be so awesome — I know, it’s hard to not sound conceited about it — so let me just answer this common question. The simple answer is that there is no simple answer, but a devotion to learning goes a long way. Never underestimate the power of critical thinking — I believe it to be the most powerful tool known to humankind. The more you take for granted, the less you challenge yourself to think critically. The less you challenge yourself, the smaller your exploration of consciousness and life can be.

Let’s Be St. Francis of Assisi (aka Frank)

Basically, I’m just a guy who loves to learn and loves to program. I started programming on my Texas Instruments graphing calculator when I was 13, and have been hooked ever since. I also like to emphasize that programming is a creative activity — like most things, it’s done best when respected as both an art and a science.
